Year 1 Information
USEFUL LINKS FOR PARENTS
Year 1 at St Peter’s School is filled with wonderful, hands on learning experiences that the children absolutely enjoy. We spend a lot of time learning outdoors and enjoy being active within our lessons. In our classroom there are independent Phonics and Maths areas set up, as well as an inviting book corner that is filled with exciting stories and information books. Throughout the year the children will learn about different topics that include ‘Marvellous Me’, ‘Weather Experts’, ‘Arctic Adventures’, ‘Fairy tales’, ‘Plants’ and ‘Carnival of The Animals’. We are lucky to have Wycombe Museum visit us when learning about toys and the children also attend a visit to The Lookout Discovery Centre, as well as other local area visits. We encourage as much independent learning as possible in Year 1 but do still love paired and group activities where we can build on our skills of working as a team. The children in Year 1 are enthusiastic learners that enjoy finding out about how and why things work in our amazing world.
